In a year of incredible games, some equally incredible games may have just flown under the radar. That seems to be the case for one RPG game by the developers at False Prophet.
BEAST: False Prophet is a “brutal, tactical RPG that sends players to the dark ages rife with plague and raiders”. Currently available in early access, BEAST is False Prophet’s debut title that aims to “redefine turn-based tactics” by introducing a “gritty, grounded story with morally ambiguous characters”.
Turn-based combat will allow players to strategise their moves on the battlefield but no soldier is truly alone and you will be joined by a loyal brigade of comrades, each with unique skills and abilities. However, you are a Beast and must consume to gain power. Will your comrades play victim to your hunger?

You will play as a veteran, who after being presumed dead, returns from 10-year-long Ottoman slavery. With his home now under the rule of a tyrannical prophet-king, he must battle raiders and a land ravaged by a deathly plague to restore everything he once loved and cherished. Additionally, the veteran will be able to turn the tide of battle with either long-range or close melee combat aimed to overpower the battlefield.
Not only will you have to battle literan demons but you will have to face your inner demons as you are infected with a Beast. This means you will have the chance to make morally dubious decisions along the way but will you give into inner voices?
With the exploration and narrative similar to Baldur’s Gate 3 and the monstrous creatures seen in RPGs such as The Witcher 3, BEAST: False Prophet is an “atmospheric, story-rich, grim, dark world inspired by Carpathian legends” in a world where there is only evil.
