The hype surrounding Assassin’s Creed Shadows is in full swing after Ubisoft released its first trailer just yesterday. However, it appears as though the upcoming title will be unplayable for millions of us upon release.
Following the world premiere of the first Assassin’s Creed Shadows trailer, millions of fans are hyped for the next entry in the long-running series which will take us to Feudal Japan where we will play as both a Shinobi and a Samurai.

As the next instalment in the long-running Assassin’s Creed series, this will be the entry following on from 2023’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage but as with any title in the series, it will act as a standalone.

With many fans desperate to get their hands on Shadows this November, developers Ubisoft have revealed a bit of a problem - millions of players might not even be able to access it.
First and foremost, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be the first title in the series since 2014 which will not be arriving to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. As it stands, it will be released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Mac.
This news makes sense considering we are very much in the current-gen era but it is still sad to see those without the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S being left out.
Additionally, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will require an online connection for installation. This was spotted on physical pre-orders of the game which read: “Internet required to install the game”.

Again, this is perhaps unsurprising considering other titles such as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws will also require an online connection.
However, with Ubisoft not confirming why this will be a requirement, it begs the question if Assassin's Creed Shadows will have some sort of online component in the future.
