Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to change things up, much to the dismay of some.
Even though Assassin’s Creed Mirage was largely regarded as a return to form, it still felt a little too familiar in places.
The new Ubisoft instalment looks set to change this by introducing a multitude of romance options.

However, not all fans are pleased.
Claims of “wokeness”, as well as review bombing the title before it’s even released, have hounded AC Shadows since its trailer premiere.
Ignore the discourse and just watch the Assassin's Creed Shadows trailer.
The vexation of the fandom looks set to continue, too, as now some are taking issue with LGBTQIA+ romance options being included.

You’d think that LGBTQIA+ individuals didn’t live back in feudal Japan, nor that AC has never included romance options before, given the reactions.
Yet, as @DannyRayChamp remarked, “That's been a mechanic since Odyssey.”
Not only is Ubisoft being criticised for being “activists” (as if that’s a slight in some way), but people are moaning you can’t just go around killing in AC titles anymore.
“Oh good lord. We can’t just play a game about assassinations now there’s romance in it for no reason,” tweeted user @wjtkiv.
Another posted, “Definitely not buying this game... or any Ubisoft games ever again.”

Here’s the thing, though: you don’t have to romance anyone if you don’t want to. Romance of any kind isn’t enforced in AC Shadows.
This upset over RPG based gameplay once again reminds us of why we can’t have nice things.
In truth, none of us should be all that surprised by this small section of the fandom, given how gamers reacted when Starfield dared to include pronouns...
For people not condemning the game over such trivial matters, you can get a stellar freebie that’ll further enhance your playthrough.

Hopefully, the fandom will soon turn their attention to how amazing the game looks.
