Fans are patiently awaiting the next instalment of the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which interestingly, will feature a smaller world-size than the most recent entry, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Ubisoft are full-steam ahead with the series, as they recently announced that several new AC games are on the way, with the studio bolstering its staff numbers with a 40% increase in developers.
Fans have also been busy, creating their own Assassin’s Creed content as well as tweaking existing games with enhanced graphics and mods to make the games look and feel even better. With the news of more games on the way, it’s no wonder players are getting excited, with many already theorising when and where the upcoming titles will be set. Personally, I’m hoping for a follow-up to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

One fan has shared their concept for a new Assassin’s Creed game that takes place somewhere the series has never gone before, the modern day. Animator and designer MUHIL shared a concept trailer for Assassin’s Creed Rises, a game that would be set in a modern-day city, complete with a skyline dominated by skyscrapers, a stark contrast to previous entries, which generally used more ancient civilisations like the Greeks in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
The concept trailer features an unnamed assassin, perched atop a tall building, before taking the trademark leap of faith, unveiling the logo. It’s impressively animated, and one can only imagine what a full game in this style could look like, though don’t ask us how the assassin will survive that multi-story drop, we don’t think a hay bail is gonna help them survive that one.
Now to say the series has never done the modern day before is a bit of a lie, as segments of the games do take place during the present, albeit in small bites and without the freedom of exploration and movement the games are known for. Time spent in the modern day is often used to push forward the story or create a break from the action, so a full-size game in a current city would actually be a first.

Future times and locations of Assassin’s Creed games remain a mystery at the moment, and there are still so many ideas that they haven’t done yet, like the Mayans, Japan, the Wild West, etc. There’s nearly limitless possibilities, but maybe it wouldn’t hurt to have one game set in modern-day New York or a similar big city.
