Assassin's Creed Origins free remaster looks properly next-gen

Hot damn

I'm going to let you in on a little secret that I'm sure will probably cost me my gamer card: my introduction to Assassin's Creed was Assassin's Creed Origins.

Now, on the one hand this had some benefits. I mean, if you're going to start Assassin's Creed years later you might as well start with the game that sets up the assassins themselves, right? Plus loads of people bang on about how Origins is one of the best, even if the RPG mechanics were something of a departure.

Anyway, if you're keen to check out Assassin's Creed Origins again but want to give it a fresh coat of paint, allow me to point you towards a free fan-made remaster that genuinely looks better than a lot of the games currently available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. That's not a dig at those consoles to be clear (I love 'em both), rather a testament to how astonishing this remaster looks.

The mod is called Purity Of Egypt, and it overhauls Assassin's Creed Origins to make everything look that much more vibrant, full of colour and life.

Assassin's Creed Origins was always a stunning game, of course, but the manner in which this mod manages to make everything look richer and deeper is incredible impressive. It also happens to be one of the top-rated mods on Nexusmods, which is hardly a surprise given how staggeringly gorgeous it is.

So if you were thinking about diving back into Assassin's Creed Origins instead of playing one of the many, many other RPGs currently available, do it right. Make sure you get this mod installed for a completely fresh experience. Just, you know, make sure your PC doesn't blow up from trying to run the thing, because nobody wants to see that happen.
