We’ve finally got a proper look at how the parkour will look in the next Assassin’s Creed game, and I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that this looks like a genuine return to form for Ubisoft.
The first look at Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ parkour gameplay hit the internet last night. If you fancy taking a 12-minute-long look at what’s on offer from the upcoming title, then here’s a link.
And if you want a truly in-depth explanation of all the new parkour mechanics then luckily for you, Ubisoft has just revealed a huge list of all of the new systems and moves they’re adding to the new AC game in a recent blog post.

In a Reddit thread over on the r/assassinscreed subreddit detailing the news, Assassin’s Creed fans are thoroughly impressed with what’s on offer.
“I’m just impressed with how agile Naoe seems compared to previous protagonists. Doing flips and dodge rolls is definitely going to be addicting,” commented one user, ”Even that little twirl she does when throwing her grappling hook is awesome, lol.”
“This looks incredible. Finally we have real parkour down vs up control without the cumbersome high profile button of previous games…” replied user DirectSoil8081.
“It was a real pain in Valhalla having to tap parkour down like a millisecond after jumping. Also it's cool that you can switch from vertical to horizontal movement with the grapple hook on the fly... I love it.”

Personally, there’s been a lot of negativity surrounding Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the past year (some deserved, some not so deserved) but I’m finally on board with what Ubisoft is cooking.
This honestly looks incredible. Assassin’s Creed Shadows just went from a “meh” to something I’m genuinely looking forward to trying now.
Here’s hoping it (pun intended) sticks the landing on February 14th.
