The story of Assassin’s Creed 2 is one about revenge so it is perhaps no surprise that its main character has quite a few kills under his belt. Now one fan has calculated exactly how many kills take place and it is information we never knew we needed.

Released in 2009, Assassin’s Creed 2 marked the beginning of the Ezio Auditore trilogy and is widely considered as one of the best titles in the long-running Ubisoft series.

Check out the launch trailer for Assassin's Creed 2 to see Ezio in action below!

Taking place in Italy during the Renaissance Period, we follow Ezio as he seeks revenge on the people who killed his family and what follows is his journey into discovering the Templar Order and becoming one of the most feared assassins of all time.

It is easy to become dulled to the fact that the Assassin’s Creed series feature quite a lot of, well, assassinating and Ezio was no stranger to killing his enemies and anybody who dared stop him.

That is why one fan over on r/assassinscreed recently took the time to dive back into Assassin’s Creed 2 to count how many kills Ezio actually has under his belt. The user also plans to do the same for the remaining titles in the trilogy: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed Revelations.

For now, let’s take a look at how many enemies he killed in the first game alone.

“So basically I decided to replay the Ezio series for like the 7th time but this time I'll try counting Ezio's kill count in AC2,” the user explained. “I’ll soon do it to all the other two in the trilogy. This took me a long time and it had difficulties so I split the kill count into four categories:

  1. Mandatory (Enemies Ezio had to kill to proceed the main or side mission)
  2. Outside missions (Enemies Ezio kills outside missions like lookouts or just any guard in free roam) as an extra
  3. Battles
  4. Stealth areas.”

After calculating all of these areas, it has been calculated that Ezio kills roughly 867 people during the events of Assassin’s Creed 2. Holy moly.

It is a reason he is considered as one of the most feared assassins of all time but we still love him.
