Animal Crossing: New Horizons has just dropped a major update that has surpassed fans expectations significantly, with some highly requested features that they have been waiting on for a very long time at this point.

The 3.0 update has a little something for everyone, bringing a major new hotel to the pier area, within which you can design the individual rooms for your guests and take over the running of the day-to-day operations, or leave most of it to your most responsible villagers.

Outside of that there are a ton of quality of life changes that make the game a whole lot more pleasant to play, including the ability to access resources for crafting from your main storage, rather than having to carry in your pockets at all times.

All of that great tangible stuff aside, it seems as though one change in particular has really captured the imagination of the gathered audience, and it's enough to make some of us soft hearted players a little bit weepy.

Animal Crossing Villagers Now Remember When They Lived on Your Island

Over on Reddit, one player pointed out how former islanders will now remember that they used to live with you, and deliver unique new dialogue that makes it clear just how special their time in your little commune was.

The comments in response were particularly excited at the revelation, with many feeling like they have made an impact in the lives of their companions.

“Oh my stars!!! That’s so beautiful!!! I love everything about this. Finally some depth to the characters,” one comment read.

“Drake was my first guest, and he said this exact same thing! It’s so sweet that former villagers remember us and get a little nostalgic about their time on our islands,” another added.

Others are concerned they may finally be called out for their bad behaviour, with one saying, “Honestly not happy about this because I still feel guilt from evicting Agnes on her birthday. I still feel like a d**k.”

The update has undoubtedly breathed new life into the game for the first time in a while, and players are flooding back in to see everything it has to offer.

The Switch 2 upgrade is also live now, meaning that those playing on Nintendo's newest console can take advantage of improved performance and visuals across the board.

In even better news, it is all totally free, so you don't have to pay for any DLC to get your hands on the new goodies.
