Yesterday, the news broke that actor Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter regarding the death of director of photography Halyna Hutchins whilst filming Rust. In a reconstruction, lawyers representing the Hutchins family have shown the way she may have been killed by the prop gun.
Hutchins, an award-winning cinematographer, was struck by the gun and then airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was 42 years old. The gun also injured director Joel Souza however no charges have been filed against Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed in this instance.
"As is profoundly true in the art of cinematography, words alone cannot capture the loss of one so dear to the AFI community," the American Film Institute Conservatory paid tribute to her in a post to Twitter. "We pledge to see that Halyna Hutchins will live on in the spirit of all who strive to see their dreams realized in stories well told."

Additionally, assistant director David Halls accepted a plea agreement for the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon. The CGI reconstruction video of the events that led to Hutchins' death and Souza's severe injury is found on UNILAD, however, we advise caution for its content even if it is simulated.
"I think the video explains why Mr. Baldwin and others were responsible and are responsible for safety on the job site and why their reckless conduct and cost-cutting measures led to the death of Halyna Hutchins," said attorney Brian Panish. Conversely, Baldwin's lawyer Luke Nikas argued that the trial's outcome is "a terrible miscarriage of justice."
"Mr. Baldwin had no reason to believe there was a live bullet in the gun - or anywhere on the movie set." said Nikas in a statement to Insider. "We will fight these charges, and we will win."
