Opinions on gaming can be varied but there’s one thing that unites us all. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t enjoy taking in a sweet, sweet dose of nostalgia from time to time.

In recent days, gamers gathered on Reddit to hail the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube era as the ‘golden age’ of gaming. Here at GAMINGbible, we all have fond memories of it. For some of us, it was our first introduction to gaming and for others, it was the age of after-school sessions on Halo 2 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It just so happens that both of those games were released in 2004 alongside a host of other incredible titles. In fact, people are just now noticing that 2004 might be the ‘best year for gaming ever.’

Take a look below to check out our favourite PlayStation 2 titles.

One user declared the fact that 2004 was an incredible year for gaming over on Reddit sharing a collage of some of the titles released that year. There was Fable, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Half Life 2, Far Cry, Need For Speed 2 Underground, and The Sims 2 to name a few. Take a look at the year’s line-up below.

Which is your nostalgic favourite? I’d have to say The Sims 2. I dread to think of how many hours I spent on that game - and still do. You know what’s tragic though? Getting to the point in a Sims playthrough where the entirety of your original family has died from old age and you’re onto the second generation. It’s an achievement but a sad one at that. Moving on though, others had happier memories.

NerdLifeCrisis wrote, “San Andreas is still my fave GTA,” while boissondevin added, “I need more games like Riddick. Hell, Riddick needs to be made available for purchase again.” Mickeylikecrazy praised Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines saying it’s “really amazing,” and evsincorporated stated, “Unreal Tournament front and centre as it should be.” Ah, it was a good year.
