GTA: Stars And Stripes is the San Andreas sequel we always wanted

It's an ambitious sequel

For the longest time, GTA: San Andreas was the people’s choice for the best in the series. It moved the needle and truly established the series as a powerhouse.

Despite the size of the game, with its many missions and distractions, along with a huge open world map, it seems many are hungry for more.

Dear Rockstar, we're begging you for a second trailer for GTA 6

This is where GTA: Stars and Stripes comes in. It’s essentially a massive mod for San Andreas that incorporates the entirety of the United States.

Yep, you read that right. This is a collaborative project between a whole host of modders who want to bring all of America into the game, utilsing the iconic style of San Andreas.

While the primary focus of the mod is the map, the team is eager to emphasise that other additions will appear over time including new cars, properties to buy, interior spaces, and missions.

Being a mod of this size, a lot of work is taking place to stabilise the game and generally smooth out any rough edges left behind by Rockstar Games. GTA: San Andreas is 20 years old, after all.

So far, from what we’ve seen on the website, it’s clear this is a passion project with the end in distance.

It’s going to take a long time to be able to implement everything the team wants to, but what they’ve got in there, so far, looks great.

They’ve definitely managed to keep the style they wanted with Stars and Stripes keeping that semi-cartoon aesthetic that San Andreas revelled in.

One of the more recent additions appears to be Vice City from the seminal game and soon-to-be backdrop to GTA VI.

If you want more San Andreas, or just more GTA generally, you should keep an eye on this project and prepare to drive, or even cycle, across the USA.
