Red Dead Redemption 2: 8 of the best secrets you probably missed

Shhh, it's a secret

Red Dead Redemption 2 is known for its secrets. Some players have been exploring for hundreds of hours and are still yet to find everything. Rockstar Games love to squirrel away cool locations, nods to other games or film, plus feature some downright weird easter eggs. Here are eight of the best secrets you can see today.

Serial Killer Cabin

Who doesn't want to see a serial killer cabin? Body parts adorn the walls and tables, a few corpses hang from chains, it's definitely grisly and gross. But, if you're someone who loves true crime or horror films, there's a chance this is worth journeying out to. There are three murder scenes to visit and if players manage to put together a map from the clues, you'll get to see the murder basement in all its glory.

Bigfoot's Cave

Bigfoot has a habit of appearing in Rockstar games. The Sasquatch makes an appearance here, kind of. There's a cave near Calumet Ravine that appears to have been blocked off with boulders. If you walk up to the rocks a conversation begins between you and, surprisingly, Bigfoot. He's hiding because of his size, apparently.

ManBearPig

If you've ever watched South Park, you'll already be aware of ManBearPig. This monstrous creature was introduced by Al Gore in one of the earlier seasons, as a mythical beast to scare the children. Of course, in South Park style, ManBearPig turns out to be real. In this episode of the show there are several nods to the first Red Dead Redemption, so Rockstar chose to repay the favour. You'll need to explore near the Van Horn Trading Post for this one.

UFO

Aliens are out there. It's true, it's been confirmed, for the 'real world' anyway. But they are also real in Red Dead Redemption 2. If you want a guaranteed sighting there's a particular place you'll need to visit. Head out to the top of Mount Shann, between the hours of 1am and 3am and you will be visited by beings from another world. UFOs can be spotted in other areas, but this should be your first visit.

Meteor House

These poor unfortunate souls. They were probably gathered round the table for dinner, discussing their day. Maybe they were chomping down on some beans when, out of nowhere, a meteor comes crashing through the roof. They might have been surprised, though by the looks of the corpses, it's unlikely they had time to think before their bodies were pulverised. You'll find this one to the east of Brandywine Drop.

A Hobbit House

The Hobbit houses in Lord of the Rings always looked so cosy. Unfortunately you can't venture inside this one, but it's worth stopping by on your tour of the countryside. You can find this easter egg to the northeast of Bacchus station. This tiny house looks just like Bilbo's cabin, complete with the turf on the roof and the cobbled walls.

Ghost Train

If you can find a bigfoot or see a UFO then there are definitely ghosts and spirits in the wild west. There are ghosts wandering certain towns and buildings, but seeing a ghost train is a jaw-dropping moment. To witness this spectacular sight you need to make your way to northwest section of Lemoyne at 3am. Keep riding alongside the tracks and soon you'll be galloping next to the ghost train.

Robot

It's quite a surprise to be strolling through the wilderness and finding a robot, but that's exactly what happens when you play through the quest 'A Bright Bouncing Boy'. As you move through the questline that starts in Saint Denis you'll learn a lot about this sad and tragic story of a wild west automaton. This is one of the sadder quests in Red Dead Redemption 2, it's a poignant trip.
