Minecraft, Valheim Collide in New RPG You Can Try Free

Aboard your ship and take to the skies

If you’re a fan of Minecraft, Everwind is most definitely a game you’ll want to keep on your radar.

Developed by Enjoy Studio and set to be published by Bohemia Interactive, it offers a similar voxel-based sandbox world albeit with some additional Valheim-esque survival elements.

The unique quirk about Everwind is that it’ll see you take to the skies rather than venture underground, if we’re still comparing it to Minecraft.

The mechanics are very similar; you’ll gather resources, craft items, and fend off enemies.

Before long, you should get a sky ship which essentially becomes your mobile base, allowing you to move from biome to biome.

The sky is divided up into several tiers and the higher you ascend, the more the difficulty increases.

In other words, you’ll find better loot but also tougher enemies.

There’s no end goal in Everwind, just as there isn’t in Minecraft; it’s intended to be a virtual world that you can keep coming back to.

GAMINGbible’s Sam Cawley had the opportunity to go hands-on with the game at this year’s Gamescom, writing, “My first thoughts are overall pretty positive. I do like a game that just throws you in and leaves you to your own devices, and once I completed the short tutorial, that’s pretty much what happened.”

He continued, “The ship is obviously the best part of the game so far, and I’m interested to see what else can be done with it aside from simply making it bigger and placing more things on it.”

Everwind lacks a release date, but it will launch across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

However, you can now sample the game on PC courtesy of Steam Next Fest.

From now until 20 October, you can go hands-on with both Everwind’s single-player and multiplayer modes.

This is an early build and devs warn that “co-op mode is experimental” so do keep that in mind.

In the demo, you’ll be able to experience the start of the game as well as the first altitude - in other worlds, the beginner tier of the sky.

You can do so solo or with up to three friends, partaking in plenty of combat.

You’ll be able to wield melee weapons, magical staffs, and spellbooks as you fend off those that stand in your way, culminating in a boss battle.

There’s no time limit on the demo, but devs estimate that the content on offer should take you around two hours or so.

Progress will not carry over into early access.

It looks like a fantastic game so I’d definitely recommend enjoying the demo before it’s too late.
